MEMPHIS, Tenn. -
The University of Memphis men's tennis team (8-9 overall) posted a sweep despite playing non-conference matches on back-to-back days with a 7-0 win over Murray State (2-9), Wednesday.
"It was a solid team effort to play back-to-back days," Head Coach Paul Goebel said. "We will enjoy a day off before an important conference match against Southern Mississippi on Friday."
Playing without junior Amrit Narasimhan, the Tigers moved everyone up one spot in the line-up, but that didn't slow any of the Tigers down, and Memphis won all three doubles matches, then claimed five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Junior Jimmy Khougassian stepped up to win at No. 1 singles, bouncing back from a first set loss to win 6-3, 10-6 to close out the match.
Memphis will host Southern Miss, Saturday, at 2 p.m. at Rhodes College.
