Men's Tennis Advances to Face Top-Seeded UAB
April 13, 2000 Hattiesburg, Miss.-- - The University of Memphis (15-13, 2-3) men's tennis team recovered after losing the doubles point to defeat Marquette University, 4-2, in the first round of the Conference USA Men's Tennis Championships, Thursday. Marquette won the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches, claiming the doubles point and a 1-0 advantage heading into singles play. The Tigers proceeded to win four of the five singles matches played, including a tight 7-5, 7-5 win by junior Jack Hu (Nashville, TN/Hillsboro) at No. 5 singles that wrapped up the Tiger victory. Memphis faces top seed UAB, Friday at noon. The Blazers are the 24th ranked team in the country and swept the Tigers 7-0 when the two teams met back in February.
