Memphis, Tenn.-- - The University of Memphis men's tennis team (12-8, 1-3) celebrated its first week as a nationally-ranked team with a 6-1 win over Louisiana-Monroe on the refurbished courts on the campus of the University of Memphis, Friday.

The Tigers won their No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to win the doubles point to go up, 1-0. The Indians battled back with a win at No. 5 to make it 1-1, but Memphis proceeded to win the remainder of the singles for the Tigers' 12th win of the season.

Memphis wraps up its regular season against Murray State at 1 p.m., Saturday. The match will be held on the HPER courts at the corner of Echles and Spottswood on the campus of the University of Memphis.

Earlier in the week, the Tigers broke into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's top 75 for the first time since 1976.
