No. 33 Memphis Tigers Take Out No. 59 South Alabama Jaguars, 5-2
April 14, 2012 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - David O'Leary ran his undefeated streak to 19-straight matches and the 33rd-ranked Memphis men's tennis team defeated 59th-ranked South Alabama, 5-2, on Saturday morning. The Tigers improve their record to 16-4, while the Jaguars fall to 15-6. Memphis earned the doubles point with wins on the second and third courts. Leon Nasemann and Johnny Grimal defeated Cody Hall and Daniel Leitner, 8-1. David Henry and Connor Glennon followed with an 8-3 victory against Romain Bocaert and Alex Bernard. Joe Salisbury gave the U of M its second point of the match, defeating Alex Bernard, 6-2, 6-1, in the no. 2 singles match. Henry, playing singles for just the fourth time this season, took out Sebastian Kirmse in straight-sets, 6-1, 6-4. Leon Nasemann earned the match-clinching point at no. 5 singles, winning against Hanno Bartsch, 7-6 (4), 6-2. O'Leary claimed the Tigers' final point, extending his unbeaten streak to 19 matches. The freshman beat Cody Hall, 6-2, 6-3, at no. 4 singles. Glennon and Grimal both lost in three-set, super-tie-break matches. Playing at no. 3 singles, Glennon fell to Daniel Leitner, 4-6, 6-3, 10-8, in only his fourth loss of the season. Grimal fought hard on the top court, before losing to Bocaert, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (5), 11-9. The Tigers, 4-1 this season in conference matches, close their regular season tomorrow at No. 65 UAB with a scheduled start time of noon (CT).
