April 15, 2012 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Memphis (17-4, 5-1 C-USA) ended the regular season with a 4-0 win against Conference USA-rival UAB (16-8, 3-2 C-USA) on Sunday. Freshman David O'Leary won his 20th-consecutive match to remain unbeaten in his collegiate career. The Tigers grabbed the doubles point behind identical, 8-6, victories on courts one and two. After Johnny Grimal and Leon Nasemann dropped the No. 3 doubles match, David O'Hare and Joe Salisbury won at No. 1 doubles and Cedric de Zutter and David Henry grabbed a win at No. 2. This marked only the second time all season that De Zutter played doubles and the Belgium-native won both matches. The Blue and Gray didn't waste any time in singles, staking decisive victories on courts three, four and five to win the match. Joe Salisbury defeated Chris Helliar, 6-2, 6-1, in No. 3 singles and Leon Nasemann defeated Tom Puetz, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5. O'Leary, who has played remarkable tennis as a true freshman this season, continued his unbeaten streak, winning, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4 singles. O'Leary's 20 wins this season is the most since 2005, when Alex Bucewicz went 20-3. Memphis heads back to the Bluff City before traveling to Orlando, Fla., for the Conference USA Men's Tennis Championship. UCF is hosting the tournament, which is being held April 19-22.
