Men's Tennis Falls to Host SMU in C-USA First Round
April 18, 2008
DALLAS - - The University of Memphis men's tennis team (8-13) saw its 2008 season come to an end with a 4-0 loss to host SMU in the opening round of the C-USA Championships, Friday. The loss wraps up the Tiger careers of Amrit Narasimhan and Jimmy Khougassian, both players who transferred in to Memphis following the 2005-06 season. Memphis won the No. 3 doubles match, but that was the lone Tiger victory, as SMU used wins at No. 1, 4 and 5 singles to close out the victory to advance to face the winner of the Rice/East Carolina match on Saturday. The Tigers were without Jimmy Khougassian for the match after Khougassian, who missed the entire fall semester due to injury, suffered another injury, forcing him to miss his final collegiate match.
