MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - University of Memphis junior Martin Tamla won the Flight Two Consolation Singles title at the Middle Tennessee Fall Invitational, Sunday. Tamla downed Tennessee Tech's Michele Panzeri, 8-5, in the win to finish the weekend with a 3-1singles mark.

Tamla was one of two Tiger newcomers to advance to the championship match in the consolation draws. Tiger walk-on Trey Brower downed Austin Peay's Brett Bolton, 8-2, to advance to the finals of the Flight Three singles, where he fell to Georgia Southern's Lasha Janashia in a tough battle, 9-7. Brower finished with a 2-2 mark in singles.

The Tigers travel to Athens, Ga., this weekend to participate in the Southern Collegiate Championships. Memphis opens its 2003 home stand when it hosts the prestigious ITA Southeast Regional, Oct. 16-19th.
