MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Senior men's tennis player Mark Finnegan (Kill County, Kildare, Ireland) used a straight set 6-3, 6-4 win over Southern Illinois' Tomas Gonzalez to win the B1 Singles title at the Middle Tennessee Fall Invitational, Sunday.

Finnegan was the only Tiger to play in a final as the consolation finals were cancelled. Junior James Spence was to have faced teammate Alex Bucewicz in the A1 Consolation singles finals before the decision was made to not play out the consolation draws.

Memphis next plays at the Arkansas Invitational, Oct. 8-10th. Memphis opens its home stand the following weekend at the ITA Southeast Regional, Oct. 14-18th. That tournament features the top ranked college players in the Southeast and will be hosted at The Racquet Club of Memphis.
