MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- - The No. 29 ranked doubles team of Ben Stapp and Lee Taylor Walker won the Flight One Doubles tournament at Middle Tennessee State after the Ole Miss team of Paul Ciorascu and Catalin Gard defaulted the championship match, Sunday.

The win moves Stapp and Walker to 3-0 on the season heading into the ITA All-American prequalifier that begins, Oct. 4th.

In other play from the tournament, Stapp recovered from his Flight 1A Singles loss to win two matches in the consolation bracket, before falling to Matt Emery from Kentucky in the Sunday consolation quarterfinal. Stapp defeated Joa Marcelo Pinho from Austin Peay in his first consolation singles match, 6-0, 6-2. He won 6-4, 6-0 over Mithun Murali from UALR before his quarterfinal match. Stapp won the opening set of his quarterfinal, 6-2,but dropped the second set 6-3. The tiebreaker third set also went to Emery, 10-2. Emery was defeated by eventual consolation champ Rodrigo Minnozo from Auburn.

The Oct. 4th prequalifier for the ITA All-American is the next meet on the Tiger schedule. The doubles team of Stapp and Walker are currently third on the waiting list to get an automatic entry into the main draw, allowing them to skip the pre-qualifier.
