ATHENS, Ga. - The University of Memphis men's tennis team is making the most of second chances in doubles and consolation singles play at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Sunday.

The doubles team of Amrit Narasimhan and Charlie Ramsay took out the No. 2 seeded team in the Division I doubles draw from Duke, 8-6, then downed the No. 22 seeded team from Vanderbilt, 8-5. The Tigers advanced to one of the semifinals with an exciting 9-7 win over the team of Dean and Peak from Charleston Southern, and will now face the Middle Tennessee team of Nowack and Peers Monday morning at 10 a.m.

On the consolation side, two Tiger entries advanced Sunday. Spencer Heflin defeated his opponent from Wofford, 2-6, 6-4, 10-6, to advance to a match against Georgia's Hill in the quarterfinals in Division III singles, while Michael Gaerthoeffner defeated opponents from Georgia State (6-1, 6-1) and N.C. State (6-4, 7-6).

The tournament draws will wrap up on Monday in Athens.
