Men's Tennis Goes 3-2 on Final Day of UVA Ranked +1 Tournament

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - - The University of Memphis men's tennis team went 3-2 in singles on the final day of the University of Virginia Ranked +1 tournament, the opening weekend of the 2012-13 season.
David O'Leary won his final singles match, winning the first set, 6-1, dropping the second 6-3, then closing out the match with a 6-2 third set victory.
Teammate David O'Hare also won, not needing three sets, but winning a second set tiebreak to claim the 6-3, 7-6 victory to wrap up his weekend.
Johnny Grimal rounded out the Memphis victories on Sunday, making quick work of VCU's Alejandro Argente, 6-2, 6-1.
Fellow Tiger Joe Salisbury was playing in the fifth place match of the Orange Singles bracket and battled early, but came up short in a 7-6 (5) first set decision. The second set went 6-3 in favor of Wake Forest's Amogh Prabhakar.
Connor Glennon received a default, so didn't get to play on Sunday, but teammate Cedric de Zutter did play in the White Singles draw in the consolation third place match. De Zutter and North Carolina's Andrew Gores split the first two sets, 7-5 and 6-4, but Gores prevailed 6-1 in the third set to take third place in the consolation draw.
The Tigers will have a quick turnaround before they are back on the courts, as the ITA All-American Saturday with the prequalifying draw. David O'Leary and Connor Glennon will both start their singles play in the qualifying draw, while their four remaining Tigers' teammates will start in the prequalifying draw.
