Dale Short Shootout Results 
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. –The University of Memphis men’s tennis team started the fall portion of its schedule in dominating fashion, going 21-1 in singles matches and 12-0 in doubles at the Dale Short Shootout hosted by MTSU. Johnny Grimal won the singles flight, while the tandem of David O’Hare and Joe Salisbury took home the doubles championship.
“It’s exciting to start the fall off with a 33-1 mark and see all the hard work from the summer and practice pay off,” University of Memphis men’s tennis coach Paul Goebel said. “There is still a long season ahead, but it’s great to get a lot of wins against good, quality opponents. Going forward, we’re going to continue to work on our doubles pairings and keep improving our fitness.”
In all, five Memphis netters finished the weekend with a 3-0 singles record: Grimal (Individual Flight Champion), Leon Nasemann, Cedric de Zutter, David Henry, K.C. Griffin, and Daniel Shidler. O’Hare finished the weekend with a 2-0 record in singles, while Salisbury finished with a 2-1 mark.
The Tigers found similar success in doubles, as four tandems went a perfect 12-0 over the weekend: O’Hare/Salisbury (Doubles champions), Nasemann/Grimal. Henry/De Zutter, Griffin/Shidler.
Memphis will split up next weekend with some players traveling to Chattanooga, Tenn. for the UT-Chattanooga Fall Classic, while some will head to Tulsa, Okla. for the All-American.
