Sept. 29, 2012
TULSA - - You can view the complete draw here.
De Zutter opened the day with a 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 win over Sacramento State's Oliver Andersen, then followed that up with a win over Tennessee's Taylor Patrick, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, to advance to the third round. Salisbury received a first round bye, then downed UNLV's Charlie Alvarado, 7-5, 6-3, to advance to a third round match. The two Tigers are trying to be two of the 16 pre-qualifying draw winners to advance into the qualifying round draw at the national-level event. There were 256 singles players in the draw at the start of Saturday morning, and just 16 will advance to the qualifying draw that opens play on Monday.
DeZutter will face Mississippi State's Stefan Vinti on Sunday, while Salisbury faces either Joakim Norstrom (St. Mary's California) or Nicholas Bjerke (Loyola Marymount).
Teammate David O'Hare will have to await the beginning of doubles play for his next ITA action, as O'Hare dropped a 6-3, 6-2 match in the second round to Utah's Alejandro Medinilla.
Three other Tigers were ranked high enough following last fall to enter into the qualifying draw directly. David O'Leary, Connor Glennon and Johnny Grimal will all stat play Monday in the qualifying draw.
