TULSA - - Eight singles matches, four doubles matches and seven days after it started, Joe Salisbury's run at the ITA All-American Men's Tennis Championships came to an end Thursday afternoon in his second match of the day.

Salisbury opened the morning following a short night's rest and a banquet obligation that all main draw participants had to attend. But that didn't slow the junior from London, England down. He defeated No. 43 Jamie Whiteford from the College of William and Mary in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, to advance to the Round of 32. Salisbury, who became the first Tiger in school history to ever advance to the main draw singles at the ITA All-American Championships, then came up short of No. 35 Peter Kobelt from Ohio State University, 6-4, 6-4 in the Round of 32.

In the week's play at the ITA All-Americans, Salisbury improved his singles record from 2-2 on the season to 9-3 and picked up wins over two ranked opponents as part of the prequalifying, qualifying and main draws. He was one of just two players to advance from the prequalifying draw all the way to the main draw. He also teamed with David O'Leary to play four doubles matches over two days.

The Tigers will return home for a two-week break from competition. Memphis will then host the prestigious ITA Ohio Valley Regionals, Oct. 19-23. That tournament will feature 22 teams from the Ohio Valley Regionals, including eight that qualified for the 2012 NCAA tournament. Memphis, Tennessee, Indiana, Middle Tennessee, East Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Louisville all participated in last year's NCAA tournament and will have entries in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional. They will be joined by players from Purdue, Dayton, IUPUI, Chattanooga, Murray State, Lipscomb, Belmont, Wright State, Xavier, Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, Butler, Tennessee Tech and Ball State. That event will be hosted at The Racquet Club of Memphis.
