Bucewicz Advances to A Singles Semifinals at Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Senior men's tennis player Alex Bucewicz used a 4-6, 6-1, 11-9 victory over Southwest Missouri's Pavel Hanek to advance to the Sunday semifinal in the A Singles bracket in the Razorracket Invitational in Fayetteville, Saturday. He will face Southwest Baptist's Dante Cipulli, who downed Memphis' James Spence, 6-3, 6-2, in the quarterfinals, Saturday.
Seniors Mark Finnegan and Scott Felsenthal also advanced to Sunday matches, with Finnegan downing Southwest Baptist's Johan Nortje, 6-2, 6-2, to advance to the Consolation A Singles semis, where he will play Illinois State's Alban Renard. Felsenthal will face Southwest Missouri's Jeff Stone, who downed Arkansas' Talley Parker, 6-3, 6-2, in the B singles semifinals. The winner of the Felsenthal/Stone match will face Artsem Burmistrau of Oklahoma State in the finals, Sunday.
The Tigers will return home to host the ITA Southeast Regional, beginning with the qualifying draw on Thursday, October 14th. As of now, Marten Tamla and Alex Bucewicz are in the qualifying draw, while Bucewicz and Spence are in the main draw. The remainder of the Tiger line-up is awaiting word on withdrawals to see if they can get into the qualifying draw.
