TUSACLOOSA, Ala. - The University of Memphis men's tennis squad wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule over the weekend as three players competed in the 2011 Crimson Tide Fall Championships. David Henry, Cedric De Zutter and Daniel Shidler all won at least one singles match as the Tigers capped off a successful fall season.

"I'm really proud of our guys for the way they played this fall," head coach Paul Goebel said. "The overall results were very positive. We just want to keep this momentum going into the offseason and start the spring on a high note."

Henry, De Zutter and Shidler all dropped their first match in the top draw of singles competition, but all three responded with wins in the first round of the consolation draw. Henry defeated Chriss Helliar of UAB 6-2,6-7(4),11-9, while De Zutter moved past Danny Manlow of UAB 6-4,2-6,10-8. Shidler knocked off Ethan Kallick of Davidson 6-4,7-5 in the first round of consolation play.

Henry and De Zutter also paired together to compete in the double draw, winning two matches before being knocked off 8-6 by Alex Bernard and Romain Boccaert of South Alabama. Before that defeat, the duo defeated Dalton Albertin and Ray Leonard of BSU 8-1 and Hunter Koontz and Lucas Oliviera of Virgiina Tech 8-5.

FALL HIGHLIGHTS
- Shidler and K.C. Griffin started things in the summer by combined to win an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Summer Circuit event in August at Oklahoma University.
- The Tigers went a combined 33-1 at their first event of the fall, the Dale Short Shootout. Johnny Grimal won the singles flight, while the tandem of David O'Hare and Joe Salisbury took home the doubles championship.
- De Zutter and Shidler finished second in their respective singles divisions at the Baras UTC Fall Classic.
- The doubles tandem of David O'Hare and Joe Salisbury qualified for the main draw at the ITA Men's All-American Championships. The duo knocked off the top-10 UCLA doubles team during its run.
- Grimal won three-straight matches in the pre-qualifying stage to advance to the first round of the All-American Championship Monday.
- O'Hare and Salisbury made a run into the quarterfinals of the doubles draw at the ITA Regional in Knoxville before losing to the eventual champions.
