Netters Climb in Rankings
Feb. 9, 2011
MEMPHIS, Tenn.--Memphis men's tennis jumped two spots, up to No. 57, in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association team rankings released Tuesday. The climb moves the team closer to the highest ranking in program history, which was No. 50 in March of 2003. Memphis (4-2, 0-1 C-USA) downed Murray State 7-0 in its last outing, rebounding from a 7-0 loss to No. 44 Vanderbilt the previous match. The Tigers suffered their only other defeat in the season opener, when it fell 6-1 to Conference USA foe Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane is currently ranked 37th. The Tigers do not play before ITA polls are released again on Monday, Feb. 14. The next rankings will also include individual singles and doubles rankings in addition to the team poll.
The U of M is back in action at The Racquet Club of Memphis on Feb. 19, in a double-header against North Alabama and Rhodes College beginning at 10 a.m.
