Men's Tennis to Continue Road Trip Against Ranked Opponents This Weekend
Feb. 8, 2006 MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's tennis team (2-3, 0-1 C-USA) will continue a difficult road trip against No. 16 Tennessee and No. 37 Vanderbilt to wrap up a portion of five straight ranked opponents on the Tiger schedule. Memphis, which dropped out of the national rankings released Tuesday, will face a 3-1 Tennessee team Friday at 5 p.m. The Vols have rallied back from a 5-2 loss to Ohio State to win two straight, including a 7-0 win over UNC Greensboro. Following the Tennessee match, the Tigers will venture back westward, where they will stop in Nashville to face Vanderbilt, Sunday, at 1 p.m. The Commodores are 2-1 and coming off a 6-1 loss at No. 32 Louisville. Vanderbilt will have played Chattanooga before the Tigers come to town though, as the Mocs will play in Nashville on Friday night. The Tigers will then have an 11 day break in the schedule before traveling to Orlando, Fla., to face East Carolina and UCF, Feb. 23-24th.
