MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Senior Alex Bucewicz was named the Conference USA men's tennis player of the week after going 3-0 at No. 1 singles and defeating the No. 22 ranked singles player in the country, it was announced by the league office, Tuesday.

This is Bucewicz's third honor from the C-USA office, as he was named the Player of the week once in 2002 and once in 2003.

"Alex played really well last weekend and I thought he was worthy of the player of the week award," Head Coach Paul Goebel said. "It's nice to see his hard work rewarded."

A three-time member of the Conference USA academic honor roll, Bucewicz leads Memphis with seven singles victories on the season, including a 3-3 mark at No. 1 singles and a 4-1 mark at No. 2. Bucewicz and doubles partner, Marten Tamla, are also 4-2 at No. 2 doubles on the season. Bucewicz is on pace to graduate from Memphis this May with a degree in Health and Human Performance.

The Tigers will face No. 5 Ole Miss, Wednesday, in Oxford. That match is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
