Men's Tennis Heads To Texas
March 7, 2002 Corpus Christi, Texas - Memphis is one of five ranked teams participating this weekend in the H.E.B. Collegiate Team Championship in men's tennis held in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Tigers, ranked 70th in the latest Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings, will play Ball State in the first round. Middle Tennessee, ranked 22nd, is the 16-team tournament's top seed. Louisville, ranked 69th and defeated by Memphis earlier this season, is the number two seed. UNLV, ranked 59th, is the number three seed and Boise State, ranked 64th, is the number four seed. Memphis is the only nationally-ranked team not seeded in the tournament. In the opening round on Friday, starting with the top of the bracket, Middle Tennessee plays New Orleans, Louisiana-Lafayette plays Colorado, Boise State plays Old Dominion, East Tennessee plays Texas Tech, Memphis plays Ball State, UAB plays UNLV, Texas A&M - Corpus Christi plays DePaul and Wichita State plays Louisville.
Memphis plays at noon on Friday and the tournament continues through Sunday.
