MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The 34th-ranked Memphis men's tennis team will travel to Houston, Texas, this weekend to participate in the 54th Rice Invitational. Tulane and Iowa join Memphis and Rice in the four-team invitational.

Memphis will open play on Friday, March 16 at 1 p.m. (CT) against the host team, Rice. The Owls are currently ranked 64th in the country with an 8-5 record, including a 2-4 record against ranked opponents. This will be the Tigers third match against a conference foe and the first for the Owls.

The Tigers will follow with a 9 a.m. (CT) match against No. 63 Tulane on Saturday, marking the second ranked conference opponent that the U of M will play in the invitational. Tulane (7-4) has one player ranked in singles play, Idan Mark at No. 123.

In the final match of the invitational, Memphis will face the Iowa Hawkeyes at 9 a.m. (CT) Sunday morning. Iowa enters the invitational with a 1-8 record, but has the 37th-ranked doubles team of Marc Bruche and Will Vasos.

The Tigers, 10-2, are off to their best start since a 13-1 record to begin the 1988 campaign. With its No. 34 ranking this week, the U of M has been in seven-straight polls.

Freshmen Connor Glennon (No. 91) and David O'Leary (No. 108) are ranked for the first time in their collegiate career. Glennon is 9-2 on the season, with a win over then-No. 35 William Kallberg of Ole Miss, and O'Leary has yet to suffer a defeat in singles, holding a perfect 11-0 record.
