Men's Tennis to Face Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday Afternoon

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's tennis team will take on the UL-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns on Sat., March 20 at 12 p.m., at the University of Memphis Tennis Courts. The Tigers come into the match with an overall mark of 7-7 on the season after picking up a win earlier this week over the Murray State Racers.
The Tigers have been led all season by the play of their doubles teams. The No. 1 duo of David Henry and Jordan Smith enter Saturday's match with an overall mark of 9-3 year. The pair has picked up wins over No. 1 doubles players from two ranked opponents (Ole Miss and Iowa) and have won seven of their last eight matches.
At the No. 3 spot, Spencer Heflin and Charlie Ramsay, both seniors for the Tigers, enter the day with a 9-4 record. Heflin and Ramsay opened the 2010 campaign with wins over duos from ranked opponents, Tulsa and Oklahoma State.
In singles, Ramsay, a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., has been playing the No. 1 spot for the last several weeks due to the season-ending injury to Leon Nasemann. Ramsay comes into Saturday with an overall record of 6-6. He is 3-4 at the No. 1 slot.
Michael Gaerthoeffner, a junior from Rheine, Germany, leads the U of M in singles wins. He enters the dual with the Ragin' Cajuns with a record of 9-5. The Memphis netter is 5-1 at the No. 5 doubles spot.
The Ragin' Cajuns are 4-9 on the season. They are led by Tomasz Krzyszkowski's 9-3 singles mark. The sophomore from Gdynia, Poland, has played at the top three singles positions for Louisiana-Lafayette this season.
