Men's Tennis Heads West
March 25, 2002 Irvine, Ca. - The University of Memphis men's tennis team has garnered the top seed in this week's 23rd Annual UC-Irvine Anteater Classic to be held in Irvine, California, March 28-30. The Tigers, currently ranked 51st nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, will play the University of Denver in its opening round match on Thursday. UC-Irvine is the number two seed, followed by Southern Mississippi at three and Texas A&M - Corpus Christi at four. The winner of the Memphis-Denver match will play the winner of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo. Other participating teams are Hawaii and Southwest Missouri State.
The Tigers enter the tournament with a 10-5 mark. Five of their ten wins and all five of their losses have come against ranked teams.
