MEMPHIS - -

Salisbury won his second American Athletic Conference Player of the Week award, Tuesday.

Senior men's tennis player Joe Salisbury was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week by the conference office, Tuesday. Salisbury helped the Tigers pick up a pair of wins over top 45 ranked opponents last weekend. He was 2-0 at No. 2 singles and 2-0 at No. 1 doubles in the two team victories.

Against No. 35 Louisville, Salisbury clinched a 4-2 road victory with a 7-6, 6-2 victory, his 20th singles win of the season. He and teammate David O'Hare had also picked up a win at No. 1 doubles against the conference foes, 8-3. One day later, against No. 45 VCU, Salisbury and O'Hare picked up another doubles victory over a ranked opponent, upending the No. 43 ranked team of Alexis Heugas and Nick Jones, 8-4. Salisbury then picked up his 21st singles victory of the season with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Alejandro Argente in the 4-0 win.

It is the second weekly honor for Salisbury this season and the third of the year from the American Athletic Conference. He was named the co-player of the month with doubles teammate David O'Hare back in October and Salisbury grabbed his first player of the week honor back on Feb. 25th. He is the third different Tiger to earn spring weekly player of the week honors, joining teammates David O'Leary and Connor Glennon.

For his career, Salisbury has improved to career singles mark to 75-54 and his doubles record to 95-35.

Memphis wraps up its 2014 regular season with a pair of ranked conference foes coming to town. On Friday, the Tigers will host No. 60 UCF, Friday, at 2 p.m. The Tigers will then host No. 25 USF, Sunday, at noon.

The visit from USF will mark the first time Memphis has hosted a top 25 ranked opponent in the Bluff City since Paul Goebel took the program over back in 2004-05. Admission for both matches is free and both matches will be played at The Racquet Club of Memphis.
