Men's Tennis Seeded Sixth for C-USA Championships
April 12, 2004 MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's tennis team (13-10) drew the No. 6 seed for the Conference USA Championships, which will be hosted by the University of Memphis on the HPER Courts, beginning Thursday, Apr. 15th. The Tigers will face No. 12 seed Saint Louis (7-14, 0-4) at 1 p.m., Thursday, on the HPER Courts. Admission for all the matches, which begin at 10 a.m., Thursday, is free. "We've got a couple of players back healthy now and we put in our best performance to date on Saturday, so we're excited about the challenge of going into the conference," Tiger Head Coach Phil Chamberlain said. The Tigers and Saint Louis have not faced one another yet this season, and whoever wins the first round match will face No. 4 seed USF, a team that eliminated Memphis from last year's conference championships, 4-2, in a four-hour match. TCU is the tournament's top seed. The Horned Frogs are ranked No. 12 in the country, followed by No. 27 Tulane (the No. 2 seed), No. 45 Louisville (No. 3 seed) and rounded out with no. 52 USF (No. 4 seed).
