MEMPHIS, Tenn. - - Junior Benedikt Fischer was named to the Conference USA Men's Tennis All-Academic Team by the league office, Wednesday. Fischer was one of two repeat award winners on the six-player list, having earned a spot on the same team last season.

Fischer, a native of Dusseldorf, Germany, carries a perfect 4.00 GPA in International Business at Memphis. He is a two-time Conference USA Academic Medalist and has spent three semesters on the Tiger 3.0 Club and the Tiger Academic 30. Also an ITA Scholar-Athlete, Fischer has bounced back this spring after missing all but two matches in the fall due to a wrist injury.

On the court, Fischer leads Memphis with 12 singles victories in dual season play, including a 10-6 mark at No. 6 singles and a 2-0 mark at No. 5. He has won three straight matches heading in to the Conference USA Championships, where the Tigers will face host SMU Friday at 2 p.m.

Fischer is also 10-4 in dual season doubles play, including a 4-2 mark at No. 3 doubles when teamed with Jordan Smith, and a 1-0 mark at No. 3 when teamed with Jimmy Khougassian. He is also 1-1 at No. 3 when teamed with fellow German teammate Michael Gaerthoeffner.
