MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A pair of Tiger teammates were two of the six individuals voted to the Conference USA All-Academic team that was announced by the league, Wednesday. Junior Amrit Narasimhan and sophomore Benedikt Fischer were each voted to the team by the league's tennis sports information representatives. It is the second C-USA honor for Narasimhan, who was named the league's player of the week in March, and the first for Fischer.

Fischer led all players with the highest GPA, sporting a 4.0 GPA in international business. In his first year at Memphis, Fischer has already been named to the Dean's List, the Tiger 3.0 Club and the Tiger Academic 30. He has played some singles matches at all three singles slot at the top of the line-up and has teamed with two different doubles partners to play No. 1 doubles this spring.

Narasimhan is having a solid season at No. 1 singles and doubles for the Tigers. With a 3.84 GPA in sport administration, Narasimhan has gone up against tough competition all year, as the Tigers have played nine nationally-ranked teams while Narasimhan has faced six nationally-ranked opponents. Like his teammate, Narasimhan has been named to the Dean's List, the Tiger 3.0 club and the Tiger Top 30.

Both teammates were NJCAA All-Americans at Tyler Junior College last year.

The Tigers are en route the Conference USA Championships, which begin Friday at the Rice University in Houston. Memphis will face host Rice in the first round of the championships. The Rice/Memphis match will be played at 1 p.m., Friday.
