April 20, 2004 MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's tennis team's first-ever appearance in the Conference USA Semifinals helped the Tigers back into the national rankings, released Tuesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Memphis broke back into the rankings after a three-ranking absence, at No. 74. Senior Lee Taylor Walker, who wrapped his Tiger career with a 49-28 dual singles record match in three years at Memphis, remained in the players' individual rankings, coming in at No. 116 in the nation in singles.
The Tigers finished the season with a 15-11 record, before falling to eventual conference champion Tulane, 4-0, in the semifinals of the tournament hosted on the U of M courts. Memphis is slated to continue hosting prestigious collegiate tennis events, as the Tigers will host the ITA Southeast Regional for the second straight year from Oct. 14-18th at the Racquet Club of Memphis.
