O'Hare Selected to All-Conference Second Team
May 5, 2011 IRVING, Texas-Tiger netter David O'Hare was named to the 2011 All-Conference USA men's tennis second team, the league office announced Thursday. O'Hare is the 11th Memphis men's netter to merit all-conference postseason honors in program history and the first to do so since Jorge Vazquez was selected to the All-C-USA singles first team in 2009. O'Hare, a native of Dublin, Ireland, compiled an overall 7-12 singles note for 2011. He debuted for the Tigers at the No. 3 position, but would jump to the No. 1 slot for the Tigers on Feb. 19 and remain there for the rest of the season. His most notable singles win was a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 downing of 49th-ranked and All-C-USA first team selection Artem Baradach of SMU on March 6. O'Hare and doubles partner Joe Salisbury tallied a solid 16-7 record, comprising a 4-3 mark at No. 1 doubles and 12-4 record at No. 2. The pair kicked off the 2011 season ranked as the No. 52 tandem in the country before dropping out of the polls. Unlike previous seasons, where the awards were decided by rankings and votes from the leagues head coaches, the all-conference first and second teams were determined solely by the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings and C-USA champion Tulsa led the way with four singles and two doubles selections.
