MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis men's tennis netter Michael Gaerthoeffner was selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District second team as was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Gaerthoeffer joins Benedikt Fischer as members of the Memphis men's tennis team who have earned placement on the Academic All-District squad. Fischer was selected to the All-District team in 2008 and 2009 and the Academic All-America team in both seasons.

Gaerthoeffner was named to the 2010 C-USA All-Academic team earlier this season. The junior from Rheine, Germany, was a two-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete. Gaerthoeffner has a 3.91 cumulative GPA in international business. He is a three-time C-USA Academic Medalist. Gaerthoeffner is slated to graduate from the University of Memphis in August of 2010, which will mean he will have completed his degree in three years.

On the court, Gaerthoeffner led the Tigers in wins with a 14-8 mark at the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles slots.
