MEMPHIS - - The University of Memphis men's tennis team finished the 2012-13 season as the No. 20 ranked team in the country. The Tigers begin building on that result this coming fall season with a schedule that includes a trip to the defending NCAA Champions, the two Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) events and a pair of USTA Futures.

Memphis will open their fall slate at the University of Virginia Ranked +1 tournament for a second straight season. The entire tournament field is made up of teams that were nationally-ranked the previous season and is hosted by the 2013 NCAA champions, Virginia, Sept. 20-22nd.

The Tigers will then compete in back-to-back ITA events, starting with the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., Sept. 29-Oct. 7th and finishing with the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, Oct. 10-15th at the University of Tennessee. Last year, Joe Salisbury won his way from the Prequalifying draw of the ITA All-American all the way into the main draw, becoming the first Tiger in school history to make an appearance in the main draw of the All-American Championships. The Tigers then hosted the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, and advanced three singles players into the quarterfinal round, as David O'Leary and Connor Glennon joined Salisbury in the regional quarterfinals singles draw.

Memphis will close out the fall with a pair of USTA Future events in Florida, competing in the Pensacola Futures Championship Oct. 27-Nov. 1 and the Bluewater Bay Championship in Niceville, Fla., Nov. 3-10.

The Tigers have had some success at the Futures level events. Last year, Connor Glennon picked up his first career ATP singles point by winning his way from the qualifying draw into the main draw at the Pensacola Futures event, and picking up a win over the No. 479 ranked player in the world before falling in the round of 16.

Teammate Joe Salisbury has also had recent success at the Futures level, picking up his first two career ATP singles points earlier this week at the Great Britain F12 event in Manchester, England. Salisbury picked up his first career singles point with a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7) win in the first round of the Aegon GB Pro-Series, Thursday, then picked up a second point by upending defending champion and world number 315 ranked Albano Olivetti in the second round, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (5).

Memphis returns a roster that includes all nine post-season award winners for the upcoming 2013-14 season. The senior class will include Cedric De Zutter, a second-team all-conference doubles honoree last season, and Johnny Grimal, a second-team all-conference singles player, along with David O'Hare, a first-team all-conference doubles honoree and Joe Salisbury, a first-team all-conference doubles and second-team all-conference singles award winner. They will be joined by juniors Connor Glennon, the C-USA Singles Player of the Year and a two-time first-team all-conference award winner, and David O'Leary. Freshman Jarryd Woog will also join the Tiger roster on the road next season after redshirting his first freshman semester after joining the team in January.
