Tuscaloosa, Ala.- Jordan Smith and David Henry had another great run at the ITA Southeast circuit tournament at the University of Alabama this past weekend. The Memphis men's tennis players won the doubles draw after taking down teams from Georgia Tech and Alabama in the process.

The pair has now won 26 matches in 2010 as a team while losing only five.

"We get to spend a lot of time together," Smith said about playing with Henry this summer. "And most importantly we're realizing what we need to get better at for the fall."

After a tough first round loss, Smith also won the back draw in singles.

"The heat was getting to people," Smith explained. "It was all about being resourceful and taking care of my body right and outlasting everyone at that point."

Smith and Henry are still ranked 82 in the ITA rankings. Both will return to Memphis for the 2010-2011 season and head coach Paul Goebel said he is excited about the experience they will contribute to the young team.

"Both played high in our lineup," Goebel said. "They are our No. 1 returning doubles team and I think both of them will provide leadership and set a good example."
