Men's Tennis Earns One Of C-USA's Sports Academic Awards
Aug. 8, 2006 IRVING, Texas - The University of Memphis men's tennis team was named one of the recipients of Conference USA's Sports Academic Awards, league commissioner Britton Banowsky announced Tuesday. The Tigers, under the direction of third-year head coach Paul Goebel, earned the Sports Academic Award for men's tennis as a result of having the highest grade-point average for the past year. The Memphis men's tennis team posted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.405. Rice University took home C-USA's Institutional Excellence Award, as nine of its teams earned the Sports Academic Award for their respective sports.
