MEMPHIS - - The University of Memphis men's tennis team will host two premiere collegiate tennis events this season, beginning with the USTA/ITA Regional Championships, Oct. 19-23rd. The Tigers will then host the Conference USA Men's Tennis Championships, Apr. 18-21st.

The USTA/ITA Regional Championships will be hosted at The Racquet Club of Memphis, while the C-USA Championships will be hosted on the outdoor courts at MUS at the Dunavant-Wellford Tennis Center. Last year, the Tigers advanced to the Conference USA finals, falling to No. 23 Tulsa in the championship match.

Memphis capped last season with a 19-6 overall record and made the program's first NCAA team championship appearance. The Tigers return six players from last season's squad that finished the season as the No. 35 ranked team in the country. The Tigers were a fixture in the national rankings last season, appearing in 15-consecutive weeks' of polls during the spring. With seven wins against ranked programs in 2012, the Tigers' helped Paul Goebel earn his first career C-USA Coach of the Year honor, while assistant coach (since elevated to associate head coach) Mark Finnegan was named the ITA Ohio Valley Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

The men's tennis team will take to the courts for competition beginning on Sept. 21, when they travel to Charlottesville, Virginia, to participate in the Virginia Invitational.

The pre-season rankings for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association will be released on Sunday, Sept. 9.

The Tigers found out on Tuesday that they will have a new Conference USA foe beginning this season, as Old Dominion will join Conference USA this season as an affiliate member in men's and women's tennis, men's and women's golf and women's rowing. The addition of ODU to the men's tennis slate in C-USA brings the total number of teams sponsoring men's tennis in the league to 10, and increases the women's total to 13.
