MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis men's tennis team is travelling to Lafayette, La., for the ULL Invitational this weekend. The tournament will mark the second fall tournament for the Tigers. They competed at the Blue and Gray Invitational last week in Montgomery, Ala.

"It should be a really tough tournament for us," said Head Coach Paul Goebel. "We will competing against 15 tough teams, two of which, Rice and Southern Miss, are from Conference USA. It will be a good test for us to see if we can follow up our performance at the Blue and Gray Invitational with another solid showing. We are looking to build on our performance in Montgomery this weekend and continue our fall success."

The Tigers are coming off of a successful tournament at the Blue and Gray Invitational. K.C. Griffin and David Henry both won their singles flights in Montgomery, in their first tournaments as members of the U of M tennis squad. Also, the doubles partnership of Benedikt Fischer, a senior from Dusseldorf, Germany, and Jordan Smith, a sophomore from Memphis, captured the crown in their doubles flight.

Jorge Vazquez, a senior from La Coruna, Spain, defeated the nation's 77th-ranked singles player, Carlos Alvarez, in singles play at the Blue and Gray Invitational.
