Stone Mountain, Ga.-- - Junior Richard Magney (Sydney, Australia) and sophomore Ben Stapp (Sydney, Australia), playing doubles together for the first time this season, upset No.8 seeded Raul Munoz/Mike Murray (Wake Forest) to advance to the Round of 16 in the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) All-American Qualifier, Tuesday.

Magney and Stapp upended Munoz and Murray, 8-5, and advanced from the pre-qualifying tournament to the qualifying level of the ITA All-American, the second leg of the ITA Grand Slam. The tandem is one of just 16 doubles teams to advance from the initial field of 128 teams to move on from the pre-qualifying tournament.

The ITA All-American is considered by collegiate coaches to be the most difficult hard court event of the college season, in part due to the lengthy process it takes to qualify for the main bracket (pre-qualifiers and then a qualifying tournament).

Magney will also play singles in the qualifying tournament after qualifying on the strength of last year's performance. Magney, who was the Tigers' No. 1 singles player last year, will face the University of San Diego's Jason Pongsrikul at 9 a.m., Wednesday.

Magney and Stapp will face Texas' Ronald Kloppert and Jean Simon, at noon, Wednesday. That match will be a rematch of sorts for Stapp, as Simon is the one who elminated him from the singles competition, Sunday.
