Memphis, Tenn.-- - Junior tennis player Michael Chamberlain (Memphis, TN/Christian Brothers) has been named the Conference USA Men's Tennis Player of the Month for September. Chamberlain shares the honor with Charlotte's Ola Jonsson who won the Flight 1 singles title at the Clemson Fall Invitaitonal.

Chamberlain, son of head coach Phil Chamberlain, advanced to the finals of both doubles championships he and teammate Joe Schmulian competed in last month. The duo qualified for the first round of the ITA All-American pre-qualifier and Chamberlain also qualified for the singles portion of the meet.

The junior transferred to Memphis after spending the past two seasons playing at Middle Tennessee State, where he was an all-conference player as a freshman. He helped the Blue Raiders to the NCAA Tournament, where they lost to nationally-ranked SMU.

The men's tennis team is currently in Stone Mountain, Georgia, competing in the second stage of the ITA All-American qualifying stage.
