MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis men's tennis team is currently in action at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional in Bloomington, Ind., on the campus of the University of Indiana. The Tigers opened action on Friday with the qualifying singles draw. Junior Michael Janz was the only Memphis men's tennis netter set to compete in the qualifying draw. The main singles draw open on Fri., Oct. 23 in Bloomington.

The Tigers are coming off a very succesful showing at the Steve Baras Memorial Tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn. Both David Henry, a sophomore from Signal Mountain, Tenn., and Jordan Smith, a junior from Memphis, Tenn., picked up championships in their respective singles flights. The Tigers also got very good showings from Michael Hayes, Michael Gaerthoeffner and Charlie Ramsay all finished with strong tournaments. Hayes and Gaerthoeffner both placed second.

Memphis will wrap up their fall season on Oct. 30-Nov. 1 at the Crimson Tide Invite in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The Tigers will begin their spring season on Nov. 15 with the South Florida Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
