Walker Ranked 13th in Region
Dec. 8, 2003 MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Senior men's tennis player Lee Taylor Walker (Jackson, Tenn./University School of Jackson) will begin his last semester as a Tiger as one of the top players in the region on the strength of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll released Thursday. Walker, who is the Tigers' lone senior on the 2003-04 squad, is ranked 13th in the Southeast Region after advancing to the semifinals of the singles draw at the ITA Southeast Regional held at The Racquet Club of Memphis in October. In advancing that deep in the draw, Walker downed fourth-ranked Jesse Witten of Kentucky before falling to fifth-ranked Dimitry Koch from Tulane. Tulane's Michael Kogan was ranked third in the region, giving C-USA three players in the top 15. South Florida's Uli Kiendl was ranked 24th, while Paco Antelo, also of USF, was ranked 34th.
Walker finished the 2003 fall schedule with a 10-4 record in collegiate play and a 5-4 mark in doubles with new doubles partner James Spence after spending each of the past two seasons among the national rankings in doubles with former Tiger Ben Stapp.
