University of Memphis track and field athletes got to work on day one of the NCAA East Preliminary. Four Tigers advanced to the next round of competition including one that secured a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Eugene, Ore.

Memphis track and field athletes have their sights set on the NCAA East Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary set to being on Thursday. The Tigers are sending a program-record of 19 athletes to the postseason with 18 going to the preliminary and one already qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championship.

A program-record 18 University of Memphis track and field athletes qualified for the NCAA postseason on Thursday. The Tigers eclipsed the previous record of 14 qualifiers recorded in both 2011 and 2012.
