Bronze Medal - 2011 C-USA Outdoor Championships

2011 Outdoor
One of three Tigers to represent Memphis at the USA Junior National Championships... Competed in seven individual events in 2011, earning six top-five finishes... Was the runner-up in the javelin throw at the SEMO Invite with a personal-best 55.80m (183' 1") toss... Was third in the javelin at the Ole Miss Invite (54.19m; 177' 9") and the Vanderbilt Invitational (51.29m; 168' 3")... At Vanderbilt, was also runner-up in the pole vault at 4.95m (16' 2.75")... Set a personal-best and tied Memphis' season-high at the Tiger Invitational with a 5.14m (16' 10.25") mark to gain entry to the USATF Junior Nationals... At the C-USA Outdoor Championships, tied with teammate Nate Arnold for a bronze medal with a 4.86m (15' 11.25") mark, and narrowly missed a point-scoring mark in the decathlon, finishing ninth with 4,716 points... Tiger Invitational mark qualified him for the NCAA East Regional; he no-heighted in the vault at the regional.

2011 Indoor
Competed in seven events as freshman during indoor season... Earned six top-five finishes in four different events: Pole vault (three), 55m hurdles, long jump and high jump (one each)... Season-best 4.88m (16' 0") was good enough for runner-up in the pole vault at the SEMO Invite... Also earned a third in the 55m hurdles (8.43s) and fifth in the long jump (6.50m; 21' 4") at SEMO... At the C-USA Indoor Championships, was sixth in the pole vault with a 4.70m (15' 5") and the heptathlon (4,698 points) to earn points for the Tigers.

Prior to Memphis
Two-time TSSAA State Champion in the pole vault...Won the 2009 AAA state title with a 4.52m (15-00.00) vault, then followed it up in 2010 with 4.72m (15-06.00) leap in 2010 to beat the runner-up by six inches...Was a finalist for the Commercial Appeal's "Best of Preps Athlete of the Year".
