I. Mahmood is one of only two Memphis cross country runners that competed last year for the Tigers...A local prospect that will add depth to the squad in 2003.

2003: (CROSS COUNTRY)-Ran a 23:05.50 in the three-mile Memphis Twilight Classic...Ran a 35:43.44 at the Arkansas Chile Pepper Invitational (10K)...Finished 38th at the Saluki Invitational with a time of 28:43.49...Did not compete at the C-USA Championships.

2002-03: CROSS COUNTRY-Competed in three cross country meets...Placed 14th in four-mile run at Murray State with a time o 23.28.00...Finished 72nd at C-USA Championships with a time of 28:25.79 (8K)...Personal best times of 28:25.79 (8K) and 22:28.20 (four-mile).

PREP: Attended Germantown H.S... Was a four-year letterwinner cross country and a one-year letterwinner in track...Was a Best of Preps all four years and was third in the USA in cross country in the 16-19 age group...Has competed in a number of triathlons, being named the USA Male Triathlete of the Year in 2002...Was third in the USA and 9th in the World in the triathlon in 2002...Also a top swimmer at his high school...Received the Red Devil Award for swimming in 2002...Also a member of the Better Business Club...Personal best times of 16:02 (three-mile), 4:38 (one mile), 10:12 (two-mile) and 2:02 (800m)...Was coached by Bill Hoffman and Jim Frost.

PERSONAL: Full name is Imran Sajjad Mahmood...Born in Memphis April 15, 1984...Son of Sajjad and Dorothy Mahmood...Twin brother, Rehan, also a member of the Tiger cross country and track teams...Father is a Computer Systems Director at The U of M... Major is undeclared...Chose Memphis because it was close to home and to his established training group and because he liked the college...After graduation he wants to raise a family and be a professional triathlete and a doctor...Says he would love to compete overseas...Enjoys biking, swimming and running...Favorite movie is "Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood", favorite music is country and rap... Also offered scholarships by Christian Brothers and Samford University.
