1998-99: Rogers opened his collegiate career with a win in
the triple jump at the Arkansas State Invite...He also finished
sixth in the long jump and 11th in the 200 at his first meet
as a Tiger...Rogers finished fourth at the Kentucky Invite with a
47-3.75 leap in the triple jump...He demonstrated his true jumping
ability when he won the C-USA Indoor long jump title with a leap
of 24-11.25, an NCAA provisional-qualifying mark...He also finished
third in the triple jump at the indoor championships with a 50-5.25
jump...The freshman continued on a roll, winning the long jump at the
Big Cat Classic and the ASU Track Classic despite competing with a broken
wrist during the outdoor season...He finished fourth in the long jump
at the Notre Dame Invitational with a leap of 22-10.75 and
finished third in the triple jump at the C-USA Outdoor meet (48-4.5)
and fifth in the long jump (23-9.5).
Prep: Rogers attended Raleigh Egypt in Memphis where he
was a three-year letterman as a receiver and free safety in football while
lettering three years in track as a sprinter and decathlete...
Rogers was a state champion his senior year in the decathlon,
triple jump, 400m relay and 800m relay...He set the state decathlon
records in the triple and long jumps...Rogers was a two-year all-metro
selection, Commercial Appeal Best of Preps nominee, city meet MVP,
Regional Most Outstanding Athlete and Coca-Cola Outstanding Athlete.
