Results

Lexington, Ky.-Memphis track and field squads got back to work, on Friday, in day one of the Kentucky Invitational. The meet marks the first competition for the Tigers in 2013, and their second meet of the indoor season.

Georgio Lynwood wasted no time finding the top spot on the podium taking first in the men's high jump with a leap of 2.08m (6'9.75"). For the women, Laura Toldy (1.65m, 5'5") and Kirsten Berding(1.60m, 5'3") placed eighth and ninth respectively.

In the women's pole vault Sabrina Hochreuther placed fourth with a vault of 3.75m (12'3.5"). Freshman Carolina Carmichaeltook ninth at a height of 3.60m (11'9.75").

The Tigers picked up a pair of top-10 finishes in the women's weight throw. Cyarra Wells took fourth with a throw of 18.37m (60'3.25"), while Britta Jaarats took sixth landing at 17.97m (58'11.5"). Allison Hotz (15.21m, 49'11") and Vivian Brandhoff(14.91m, 48'11") took 17th and 19th in the event.

The men also picked up a pair of top-10 finishes in the weight throw. Andrew Miller took third with a toss of 17.94m (58'10.25"), with fellow thrower Will Hubber placing 10th at 16.13m (52'11"). Matt Sipe placed 14th at 14.82m (48'7.5").


 

 

In the men's long jump, Luis Hanssler (7.08m, 23'2.75") and Marc Klaschka (7.05m, 23'1.75") placed third and fourth, while Jaleen White (6.61m, 21'08.25") and Austin Crenshaw (4.46m, 14'7.75") took 10th and 13th respectively. For the women, Xenia Rahn (5.70m,18'8.5") took ninth with fellow jumpers Sydney Wright (5.00m, 16'5")and Quaniqua Jones(4.99m, 16'4.5") taking 21st and 22nd place.

In the distance medley, the day's only running event, the Memphis men placed third and sixth. The third place team of Fabian Fiege, Godfrey Fayne, Keenan Joyner and James Maglasang finished with a time of 10:09.64, with the sixth place team of Julien Wolf, Jeremy Rice, Justin Pinkston and Austin Cartercrossed the line at 10:16.04.

Action at the Kentucky Invitational resumes Saturday at 10 a.m. (CT) with a full slate of track and field events scheduled, beginning with the women's 3,000m, women's triple jump and women's shot put. Final results will be posted on GoTigersGo.com as they are made available.
