@MemTigersTF_XC Men Take Titles at Missouri Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo.-The University of Memphis men's track and field squad returned to action at the Missouri Invitational, on Friday. The Tigers made a strong showing, taking four titles in their third indoor meet of the season.

James Maglasang took first in the mile run with a time of 4:20.45. Teammate Julien Wolf scored a top-10 taking seventh at 4:27.51. In the 800m, LaQuintin Garner placed first crossing the line at 1:57.14, with Keanan Joyner taking fifth at 1:59.00.

The Tigers third title came in the men's pole vault as Austin Crenshaw took the top spot at a height of 5.09m (16'8.25"). Tuure Hollo and Luis Hanssler tied for sixth at 4.49m (14'8.75"), with Marc Klaschka taking ninth at 4.34m(14'2.75").

Yannik Schaly captured Memphis' fourth title of the day in the shot put with a throw of 17.57m (57'7.75"). Luke Vaughn (17.04m, 55'11"), Tom Willcox (16.19m 53'1.50"), Wade Wells (15.33m, 50'3.5") and Matt Sipe (15.28m, 50'1.75") placed second, third, seventh and ninth respectively.

The Tigers also scored several podium and top-10 finishes on the day. Godfrey Fayne took second in the 600m with a time of 1:22.33. Aaron Willett and Aaron Persinger took second and third respectively in the 60m hurdles, with Willet crossing the line at 8.28 and Persinger at 8.30.

Memphis took three top-10 spots in the 400m. Fabian Fiege (51.15), Brandon Williams (51.24) and Chris Walker (51.72) placed fifth, sixth and 10th respectively.

The team of LaForrest Church, Garner, Alex Katt and Williams took second in the 4 x400m with a time of 3.25.76. In the 4 x 800m, Brandon Keys, Maglasang, Austell and Wolf placed second at 8:07.68.

In other field events, Georgio Lynwood took second in the high jump clearing 2.07m (6'9.5"). Memphis place third, fourth and fifth in the long jump. Michael McManus took third at 7.29m (23'11") followed by Hanssler in third at 7.12m (23'4.5") and Jaleen White in fifth landing at 7.01m (23').

White and McManus also took top-10 finishes in the triple jump. White took third at 13.83m (45'4.5"), with McManus taking seventh at 13.22m (43'4.5").

Willcox and Vaughn notched top-10 finishes in the weight throw. Willcox took third with a throw of 17.48m (57'4.25"), with Vaughn taking eighth at 15.98m (52'5.25").
