MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Aaron Whetstone led day one of the McDonald's Invite as the University of Memphis men's and women's track and field teams finished up day one.

Whetstone had a leap of 7.20 meters (23-07.50) in the long jump to beat out the other competitors in the field. He improved his previous personal best by .08 meters. Andre Hicks jumped a season best 6.44 meters (21-01.50).

Eryka Morris placed fifth in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.56 meters (18-03.00).

In the men's weight throw, Knut Syversen threw a personal best distance of 17.62 meters (57-09.75) good enough for fourth place. Seth Major and Glen Edwards had marks of 16.12 (52-10.75 and 16.09 (52-09.50).

Susan King placed third in the women's weight throw, while Sivan Aballi took eighth.

Robbey Rasmussen took second in the pole vault with a height of 4.50 meters (14-09.00). The mark is a personal best for Rasmussen.
