Crawford Finishes Fifth in 60-meter Dash at Iowa State Classic

Ames, Iowa- - The University of Memphis men's track and field team had another impressive weekend from senior sprinter Larry Crawford (Memphis, Tenn./Craigmont). Crawford posted the 11th-fastest time in the preliminary heats of the 60-meter dash to advance to the finals, where he finished fifth by tying his season-best with a 6.83 second performance. There were 69 competitors in the 60-meter dash at the meet.

Also setting new personal bests were senior Chris Ingram (Memphis, Tenn.East) who finished 25th in the 400 with a season-best time of 48.61 seconds. Junior Kris Harmon (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett) finished 39th after shaving a full second off his previous best with a 49.41 second clocking in the preliminary round.

Senior Stefan Matschiner shaved another second and a half of his season PR with a 4:10.49 time in the mile. Matschiner finished 19th in the mile run.

Also competing in a very full field was junior Andre Lucas. Lucas finished 56th in the 800 with a time of 1:55.49.

One Lady Tiger also traveled to the meet with the Tigers. Senior Kameilah Amaya finished seventh in the weight throw with a distance of 16.79 meters (55-1).

Both the Tiger and Lady Tiger track teams travel to Amaya's hometown of Carbondale, Illinois to compete in the SIU-Carbondale Saluki Classic next weekend. That meet will be the final regular season meet for Memphis, as the C-USA Indoor Championships begin Feb. 23rd at Houston.
