BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-The University of Memphis men's track and field team competed at the Cupid Classic, hosted by Southern Miss, on Friday.
Joe Craig took to the track in the 60m placing fifth with a time of 6.95. In the 60m hurdles, Aaron Willett scored a top-five finish placing third in a personal-best time of 8.23.
Brandon Williams was Memphis' top-finisher in the 400m placing 36th with a season-best time of 50.74. Chris Walker took 40th with a time of 50.79.
The Tigers scored three top-10 finishes in the 800m. Fabian Fiege was the top-finisher placing third in a time of 1:52.62. Godfrey Fayne followed in fifth at 1:53.74, with Alex Klatt taking 10th at 1:56.28.
In the mile run, Austin Carter found the podium placing second in a time of 4:16.29. James Maglasang took 11th clocking a time of 4:19.94. Runnig in the 3,000m, Dan Kuhman scored a top-10 finish placing seventh at 8:40.19.
Fayne, Fiege, Carter and Keanan Joyner took eighth in the 4 x 400m relay with a time of 3:21.84. In the distance medley, Memphis placed fifth in a time of 10:25.83 with the team of Julien Wolf, Connor Ryan, Justin Pinkton and Drew Austell.
Moving to field events, Michael McManus took ninth in the long jump landing at 7.05m (23'1.75"), while in the triple jump Jaleen White placed 12th at 14.10m (46'3.25"). In the high jump, Tuure Hollo took 13th at a height of 1.90m (6-02.75).Pauls Pujats took the men's pole vault title clearing 5.20m (17'.75").
Memphis notched three top-10 finishes in the shot put. Luke Vaughn was the top-finisher taking fourth at 17.00m (55'9.25"). Yannik Schaly followed in fifth with a throw of 16.99m (55'9") with Tom Willcox taking 10th at 15.39m (50'6").
In the weight throw, Willcox and Will Hubber notched top-10 finishes. Willcox took seventh with a mark of 17.44m (57'2.75"), while Hubber placed ninth at 16.95m(55'7.5").
