Rhodes Open Get Acrobat Reader

Inger Froysedal grabbed first-place and set a personal record in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.65m (5-05.00). Steffen Nerdal who was competing unattached in the meet, captured first-place in men's Hammer Throw with a toss of 68.79m (225-08) on Saturday at the Rhodes Open. The two headlined a successful day for the track and field team, as several athletes made their college debuts and set personal records.

Holland Thomas finished second in the women's 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.36, while Robert Jackson set a personal record time of 15.05 in the men's 110 meter hurdles, landing him in third-place.

In the men's 400 meter hurdles, Alex Sweet recorded a new personal best to finish second with a time of 54.46. Edwin Kipkorrir also set a personal record to finish third in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase clocking in at 9:33.87.

Kyosha Yarbrough grabbed a second-place finish in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.45m (17-10.75). Inger Froysedal set a new personal record in the women's triple jump, finishing third. Her mark was 12.28 m (38-07.75)

In women's discus, Kristin Sundsteigen set a personal record to finish second 36.50m (119-09). Marina Vojinovic, competing in her first event of the season, placed first in women's javelin with a toss of 35.21m (115-06).

Christian McDonald took second in the javelin throw with his first outdoor performance of 2009 with a throw of 58.17m (190-10).

The track and field team continues the outdoor season on Friday, March 27 and Saturday March 28 when they travel to Baton Rouge to compete in the Louisiana State Relays.
