@MemTigersTF_XC Men Make Strong Showing at Home Meet

MEMPHIS, Tenn.-The University of Memphis men's track and field team took to the newly renovated Murphy Track and Field Complex , on Saturday, at the Memphis Invitational. In their only home meet of the season, the Tigers made a strong showing in both track and field events.
LaForrest Church scored a win in the 400m with at time of 48.87. Teammates LaQuintin Garner (50.30), Alex Klatt (50.64) and Chris Walker (51.76) placed sixth, eighth and 10th respectively. In the 100m, Michael McManus placed fourth crossing the line at 11.48.
Running in the 800m, Memphis placed four in the top-five. Godfrey Fayne took the win at 1:56.24 followed by Keanan Joyner in second at 1:57.03; Drew Austell and Julien Wolf placed fourth and fifth respectively in the 800m with Austell checking in at 1:57.82 and Wolf at 1:58.42.
The Tigers scored a win in the 1,500m as James Maglasang crossed the line first in a time of 4:00.91. Wolf took second at 4:00.96 with Austin Carter (4:07.54) and Brandon Keys (4:13.81) finishing sixth and eighth respectively.
Aaron Persinger and Aaron Willett placed second and third in the 110m hurdles; Persinger clocked in at a time 15.29 and Willett at 15.34. In the 400m hurdles, Brandon Williams took second at 53.31. Persinger (55.90) and Willett (56.68) finished fifth and seventh respectively.
Moving to field events, Georgio Lynwood took first in the high jump clearing 2.05m (6'8.75"). In the pole vault, Pauls Pujats took first with a new program-record of 5.54m (18'2"). Austin Crenshaw took second with a vault of 5.29m (17'2").
Jaleen White picked-up a win in the triple-jump with a leap of 14.30m (46'11"). White also took fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.89m (22'7.25").
In throwing events, Yannik Schaly took first in the shot put landing at 16.94m (55'7"). Luke Vaughn (16.42m, 53'10.5"), Tom Willcox (16.01m, 52'6.50") and Wade Wells (15.42m, 50'7.25") placed third, fifth and sixth respectively. Vaughn scored a win in the discus notching a mark of 52.55m (172'5").
Matt Sipe took third in the hammer throw with a mark of 52.46m 172'1"); Willcox and Will Hubber placed sixth and seventh respectively in the hammer with Willcox at 50.79m (166'8") and Hubber at 49.33m (161'10"). In the javelin, Marc Klaschka placed fourth with a throw of 56.53m (185'5").
